Case Control Study

Prerequisites: Students should have basic knowledge of the cohort study design, the 2x2 table, risk, and relative risk.

Summary: Students will learn the basic principles and methods for designing and interpreting the results of a case control study and be able to apply descriptive and analytical techniques in epidemiology including the calculation and interpretation of the odds and the odds ratio. Students will also identify the circumstances in which a case control study would be an appropriate study design to test a hypothesis.
